Why Shabar Mantras Work in Kaliyug
In the Nath Sampradaya, the mantras used for Nav Grah Hawan are Shabar Mantras — composed in the living vernacular tongue by Siddha Naths, not in classical Sanskrit. Unlike Vedic mantras, which are considered Shapit (cursed) in Kaliyug due to improper transmission and loss of correct pronunciation (swar-vyanjan), Shabar Mantras carry no such curse.
They work because:
- They are composed by self-realized Siddhas who had direct experience of the mantra’s power
- They do not depend on perfect Sanskrit pronunciation — they operate on intent, devotion, and Guru-shakti
- Guru Gorakshanath Ji himself is the protector invoked at the end of every havan mantra: “Raksha kare Shri Shambhujati Guru Gorakshanath”
- They are accessible to all — regardless of caste, gender, or Vedic learning
“Sat furai, sat vacha furai” — May truth arise, may the word of truth arise. This closing affirmation in each mantra ensures the intent is sealed with Satya — the highest Nath principle.

- Siddhi: Guru kripa, protection across all 9 planets, liberation from all doshas
This hawan supersedes all planetary hawans. Performing it first — as prescribed in the lineage — invokes Gorakshanath Ji’s protection over the entire Nav Grah sadhana.
