What is Puja / Pooja ?
Puja / Pooja is the act of showing reverence to a god, a spirit, or another aspect of the divine through invocations, prayers, songs, and
rituals. An essential part of puja for the Hindu devotee is making a spiritual connection with the divine. Puja is worshipping the
almighty Divine powers.

What is Homam ?
Homam is a special Pooja / Puja like other Hindu activities performed for a particular God by invoking fire (Hindu agni) one among the
hindu five elements. It is good to perform homam on hindu auspicious days and days like Birthdays, Annivesaries, before starting
new venture, etc. Homams can be done on Hindu festivals.
It is said that when Lord Brahma (the creator among the Trinity) created man, he also created "Homam" for man's livelihood and
his attainment of spiritual desires. The fundamental premise of Homam is derived from the Vedams, although, according to
"Purusha Sooktham", it is the other way around - Vedams originated from Homam! The goal of all Homams is the prosperity of the
people at large by energizing and protecting the environment. The Sun is considered as the main source of energy supply, and
fire is considered as a representation of the Sun's energy. According to the ancient texts on Homam, any offer to Fire as a god,
is actually an offer to Sun.
Why Puja / Homam is necessary ?
It is very well known fact that whenever we, the human beings are in any type of
trouble we look for some superior power or a force to help us and get rid us out of the problem. By offering Puja and Homa
to our God and Goddess a person get connected with this super power. Puja or Homa is basically a powerful spiritual
procedure and if it is properly done, a person may get it's result sitting thousands of miles away from the temple. If you
can not come physically to the very temple then it is further better if you get someone who honestly offer Puja on behalf
of you in a particular temple although you may not be present there at the time of your Puja.
Puja makes our body and mind holy and pure. It keeps our unrest mind cool. Puja is also the unconditional surrender of
ourselves...OUR BODY AND SOUL to the divine power which took pity on us, put mercy and wash away all our sins and teaches
us from our within what to do and what not to do. Puja and Homa in many times fulfill our desires, rescue from the dangers,
bring us to the point of prosperity and give us a glimpse of touches of blessings of the deity which fill up our body and
mind with a different feeling and give rise an eternal peace. Puja gives us the strength to confront with adverse situation
and get the victory.
